Preparation Guide for Painting with Tjhoko Paint
Glass, Melamine, Metal, Veneer, Previously Varnished Surfaces, and Wall Tiles:
- Clean the surface thoroughly with lacquer thinners.
- Allow the surface to dry for 40 minutes to ensure all thinners have evaporated before painting.
Walls with Water-Based Paint:
- Wash the wall with sugar soap to remove grease and grime.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any sugar soap residue.
- Allow the wall to dry completely before painting.
Walls with Oil-Based Paint:
- Apply a coat of universal undercoat.
- Wait at least 4 hours for the undercoat to dry completely.
- Once dry, proceed with Tjhoko Paint.
Plastic and Waxed Surfaces:
- Sand the surface with 100-grit sandpaper.
- Clean thoroughly with lacquer thinners.
- Wait 40 minutes for the lacquer thinners to evaporate before painting.
Fabric:
- Use only natural woven fabrics, avoiding synthetic materials.
- To achieve even distribution of the paint, lightly mist the fabric with water using a spray bottle. This will help to prevent the fabric from becoming too wet.
- Note that Tjhoko Paint will alter the fabric's texture—test a small area first to ensure you like the result.
Surfaces Treated with Oils or Varnishes:
- Do not paint on surfaces treated with oils like linseed oil or varnish within the last 6 months.
Raw Wood:
- Simply dust off the wood.
- No undercoat is needed, as Tjhoko Paint includes its own primer.
Synthetic Leather:
- Clean with lacquer thinners.
- Wait 40 minutes for the lacquer thinners to evaporate before painting.
- We do not recommend painting natural leather.
How To Store Your Tjhoko Paint
How To Store Your Tjhoko Paint
Properly storing your Tjhoko Paint will help extend its life. To keep your paint free from contamination, follow these tips:
- Avoid painting directly from the container. Instead, pour a small amount into a separate container before using it.
- Always replace the wax paper over the bottle opening before sealing it with the lid. This helps prevent air from seeping in and contaminating the paint.
- If you need to add water, always use cooled, boiled water. This allows you to store the paint safely without the risk of water contamination.
- Store your paint in a cool, dry, dark place, away from direct sunlight.
